Membership Fee

We charge £40 per term to pay the annual registration fee to the Scouts organisation, pay for upkeep of the hut, and run the activities for each young person in the group.

This can be paid in a one-off payment per term, or by a monthly standing order.

Squirrels pay £24 a term (£6 a month)
Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts pay £40 a term (£10 a month)

If you have more than 2 young people active in the group (between Squirrels and Scouts), you only have to pay for 2 children!

We strive to ensure that Scouting is inclusive and accessible for all. If finances is a barrier to fully participating, then please have a confidential conversation with the Group Lead Volunteer. Please reach out to glv@1stchelmsford.org.uk

We run an adventurous and active programme, therefore clothing needs to practical but also comfortable – joggers/suitable shorts or trousers and closed-toe shoes are required. If you are uncertain, contact your Section Leader.

Uniform and Badges

Each section has their own uniform and badges, yet there are some badges that follow you through Scouting (Staged badges). There are specific locations as to where they should be sewn onto the different uniforms.

Badges are handed out when your young person achieves them. They will receive their group necker and core badges when they get invested.

Uniform can be purchased from Chelmsford District’s Scout Store, or from the Scout Store online if the store is closed.
