Meet the Team!
Scouts is open to all boys and girls aged 10.5 to 14 years old.
The weekly sessions are a brilliant opportunity for young people to continue (or start) their journey in the Scouting movement, and aiding their journey between primary and secondary school by learning new skills.
Sessions are packed with outdoor activities, badge work, games, lots of fun, and so much more to help our members learn #SkillsForLife
Every week, we gather in a group called a Scout Troop where we try new things, have fun and go on adventures, and lots more!
Badges at Scouts
There are lots of activity badges available to Scouts – ranging from science experiments to quartermaster training – along with challenge awards and staged badge which run throughout all Scouting sections. All of which leads up to the Chief Scout Gold Badge – the highest award a Cub can achieve. By attending each session and doing their best, they’ll have achieved this by time they’re ready to move onto Explorers.
Click below to discover the different badges! If you have a special hobby or skill, such as swimming or you do martial arts, then you could put that towards a Scout badge! Have a chat to your Section Leader to see what they can do.
What’s next?
There’ll be a time when all to do in Scouts is done, and your young person can move onto the next section – Explorers (aged 14 to 18)
They’ll get to continue their scouting journey, and explore new horizons through the DofE scheme, which links to the Chief Scout Platinum and Diamond, and Kings Scout Awards, along with the Young Leader Scheme.
We don’t offer Explorers at 1st Chelmsford, as all Explorer Units are organised through the district. There are half a dozen units dotted around Chelmsford, meaning there’ll be one that’s perfect for you!
